We have used VRBO several times before. So far we’ve been lucky and haven’t had much trouble. The issue I had recently involves their “quick confirmation” process. We booked a place, received a confirmation, paid in full, then got cancelled by the owner. Back to the drawing board. Wait 3 days for refund, then booked another place, received confirmation, paid in full, got cancelled by the owner. I spoke with someone in customer service who said “Don’t reserve anything until you message the owner and make sure the place is really available.”My question is-what good is a confirmation if the owner can cancel after you’ve paid? Why not call it a request to book and allow the owner to let you know BEFORE YOU PAY whether they will accept your request. I spent 4 days staring at my phone searching and searching. This process needs to be fixed

My family has used VRBO for last several years all over the US and we have been very satisfied with the accommodation and always easy reservation from your sight.

The set up was great and easy. After paying in full , I got to talk to the home owner. He was really nice. Everyone was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Will use this app again

I am writing this as an owner who advertises on VRBO. Overall my experience of VRBO has been positive. I originally started using them when they were Owners Direct. Expedia bought the company in order to acquire the properties and compete with Airbnb and Trip Advisor. They changed the name to Homeaway and turned the website into an online reservation system for self-catering holidays. The main thing that Expedia brought to the table was guaranteed bookings via credit cards for which they charge guests at least 12% on top of the Owners rental price. Advance payments are held in Escrow until guests have checked in which means if properties are not as described monies can be refunded avoiding scams and fraud. Recently they changed the name of Homeaway to VRBO which doesn't have brand recognition in the UK and is probably losing them business at present. In their defence they reacted extremely well to the pandemic arranging prompt refunds for cancellations with staff available by phone to provide help. The website isn't very user friendly for owners and seems to be under continous change, driven mainly to try to generate more revenue. Their terms and conditions for owners are voluminous and very one-sided no doubt a reflection of the litigious nature of the US culture. Interestingly we have had a fair amount of bookings from the Continent which indicates a broad marketing reach. So overall although there's room for improvement I reckon they are quite good.

Booking was easy and the owner responded quickly to questions or concerns I may have had prior to booking. They made me feel confident with booking with them

We had a great time! Noelle was a great host and the cabin was awesome! It had all of the amenities and the view was absolutely amazing. We will definitely stay here again, next time in Breck.

The booking service is excellent. We received a response with in a few minutes and confirmation was also confirmed very quick.

Looking at previous reviews (after I had booked, mistake) I was very worried that I would not get a refund when owner cancelled our booking because they said the property had been sold. However, I cancelled through VRBO website using my account and tho and behold full refund has just landed in my account, whole process took just 3 days. I am disappointed obviously that our booking has been cancelled but cannot fault VRBO for this, they are simply a facilitating website and have acted perfectly

We stayed over the New Year holiday. Our family enjoyed the peaceful location, excellent views, the hot tub and all the cabin amenities. Fire pit was a highlight for sure. Whatever hiccups came up, the owners were very responsive and took care of us. Would stay here again.

We got a place in Nashville. The price was excellent for the place we rented. It was 2 blocks from Broadway. The best travel experience yet.

I drove past our villa 2 weeks before we stayed. At first I was upset because it was not as close to the beach (2 min) as they said, and I had a sore knee. My knee healed before we arrived, so it was no longer an issue, and the walk was enjoyable. 5 to 8 min. The condo was clean and pretty. We loved the proximity to the pool. Laundry was very close also. We had a wonderful time. The money we saved over beachfront was worth it to us. We went to the beach every day and had money to eat out at the village in the evenings. We loved having a kitchen and planned ahead for not having a stove, and did microwave cooking.It all worked out. The bed was comfortable too. We would love to go back next year.
